The Marketing and Business Development (MBD) team serves as the operational and strategic hub for the Middle East region, working closely with Partners and senior lawyers to attract and retain profitable client relationships, manage market profiles, and build strong, cohesive client teams.
As part of a larger international MBD team spread across Europe, Africa, and Asia Pacific, the Middle East team plays a crucial role in enhancing the firm's competitive positioning. The successful candidate will manage the end-to-end proposal process, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and driving success in the Middle East market.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Lead and manage the creation of high-quality, compelling proposals that align with the firm's strategic goals and market positioning.
- Guide Partners and associates through the bid strategy development, formulating winning propositions.
- Evaluate Bid/No Bid decisions with a strong rationale and knowledge of similar decisions within the firm.
- Develop and implement proposal strategies that support the firm's go-to-market plans in the Middle East.
- Oversee rehearsals for new business pitches and conduct pitch debriefs.
- Organize insightful research on companies, industry sectors, and countries to inform proposal development.
- Create and implement a reporting strategy that provides an overview of pitch activity.
- Coordinate and enhance the value of legal directories and awards submissions.
- Effectively project manage bids under tight deadlines, maintaining composure and attention to detail.
- Build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders across the firm, both locally and internationally, to promote best practices.
- Stay informed about developments in the legal market, understand client challenges, and demonstrate commercial acumen in pricing models.
- Identify connections between the firm's offerings across sectors, practices, and locations to create compelling proposals.
- Demonstrate initiative by seeking continuous improvement and implementing positive changes.
- Communicate effectively, including the ability to challenge partners constructively and suggest alternative approaches to enhance output.
- Flexibly manage workloads and priorities while considering the time commitments of others.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues and contribute to a supportive team environment.
- A Degree or equivalent qualification.
- Regional experience within a professional services environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and persuade senior legal and client personnel.
- A proactive, positive attitude with a collaborative working style.
- Deep knowledge of marketing and business development processes for professional services, including new business processes, digital marketing, and CRM.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Proven experience in demanding, partner-led international environments, demonstrating the ability to multitask, manage conflicting priorities, and perform under pressure.
- High level of literacy in IT and marketing systems, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and Outlook. Experience with InterAction/CRM and design software is beneficial.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across different jurisdictions to tailor value propositions for clients.
