The Marketing & Business Development (MBD) team is the operational and strategic center for the region, assisting Partners and senior lawyers in attracting and retaining profitable client relationships, managing the firm's market profile, and fostering a sense of community to build strong and cohesive client teams.
This team in the Middle East is part of a larger international MBD team with a presence across Europe, Africa, and Asia Pacific, supported by core teams in the UK and Australia.
This role, based in Riyadh, will play a critical role in supporting a broad range of activities aimed at enhancing the firm's profile with clients, increasing market presence, and driving profitable business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Partners and senior lawyers to develop and implement strategic business development initiatives, including MBD plans, and maintain connectivity across the wider region.
- Support the development and strengthening of key client relationships through targeted client programs, aiming to increase cross-selling opportunities within the region and beyond.
- Advocate for the use of strategic business development tools, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assist in the creation and execution of innovative products, tools, and associated marketing campaigns or thought leadership initiatives.
- Monitor and report on the outcomes and return on investment (ROI) of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
- Utilize internal systems and data analytics to deliver smarter marketing and business development services to the team.
- Work closely with the Knowledge team to identify key client issues, collaborating with Partners and fee earners to bring relevant thought leadership and client alerts to market.
- Design and execute targeted marketing campaigns and organize events aimed at raising the firm’s profile and winning new business from target audiences.
- Oversee the production of marketing and business development content from concept through to distribution.
- Partner with the digital marketing team to create and manage content for digital marketing channels, particularly to highlight subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with Partners and the PR team to manage media relationships and secure appropriate press coverage.
- Provide advice on pitch qualification and strategy, prepare pitch documents, manage rehearsals for new business pitches, and conduct pitch debriefs.
- Identify opportunities from industry association memberships, such as new business, speaking engagements, and networking.
- Arrange in-depth research on companies, industry sectors, and countries.
- Coordinate and add value to legal directory submissions and award entries.
- Organize networking and profile-raising opportunities for lawyers with clients and prospects, including seminars and webinars.
- Saudi National or Bilingual Arabic/English candidate with a transferrable Iqama (for candidates based locally in Riyadh)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in a professional services environment within the region.
- High-level written and oral communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and persuade senior legal and client personnel.
- A proactive and collaborative attitude, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Deep knowledge of marketing and business development processes in professional services, including new business processes, digital marketing, CRM, and emerging technologies.
- A professional approach with high levels of commitment and internal client care.
- Demonstrated experience in demanding, partner-led international environments, with the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong IT and marketing systems literacy, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and Outlook; experience with InterAction/CRM and design software is advantageous.
- Sales techniques and coaching skills.
- Experience in managing stakeholder engagement across different jurisdictions, understanding specific requirements for RfPs, and tailoring value propositions to client objectives.
